Our midwives

Pregnancy and birth are life-changing events. Our midwives seek to empower through a partnership model, recognizing that the parents have the most important role in their experience. Our midwives view their role as that of a “lifeguard”. With an eye toward safety, and a focus on prevention, they monitor their clients, ready to “jump in” when needed. The hundreds of births they’ve attended have given them the skills necessary to meet any complication with confidence.  Midwifery care has proven to be safer for parent and baby and Pacific Natural Birth envisions a day when midwifery becomes the standard of care for families across the U.S.

Jenn Boelter

Licensed Midwife, Certified Professional Midwife

Jenn was raised in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains.  She knew from an early age that she was meant to offer nurturing care to the community around her.

With the goal of serving in a country where midwifery care was desperately needed, Jenn studied through The National College of Midwifery in New Mexico and the Philippines from 2002-2005. After completing her training, Jenn continued to work at Mercy Maternity Center in southern Philippines for over two years, during which time she also taught in the onsite international midwifery school (and had the privilege of being one of Sarah’s preceptors).  She lived among the community she served, learning the local language and building relationships with families.

In 2007, Jenn moved to Seattle to begin her next chapter of midwifery, realizing the need for gentle maternity care in the US, where intervention and cesarean rates soar.  She joined Midwife Seattle in 2009, where she put down roots in the local midwifery community.  And, in 2012, she co-founded Pacific Natural Birth in Seattle’s Ballard neighborhood.

Jenn is also a Licensed Massage Practitioner and owner of Seattle Well Mama Massage, where she offers discounted services to Pacific Natural Birth clients.  She makes use of her massage experience in her care of midwifery clients.

She has also completed Herbal Medicine for Women with Aviva Romm and continues her studies to further her knowledge as a holistic health practitioner.

Jenn will be transitioning out of midwifery to attend nursing school in 2018 with plans to pursue education as a Nurse-practitioner.

Sarah Yeamans

Licensed Midwife, Certified Professional Midwife

Sarah grew up in the mountains of western Colorado with a passion to experience the world and find a way to make a positive impact in it.

This passion led her to study midwifery in the Philippines, through a program affiliated with The National College of Midwifery.  The experience of learning and working in the Philippines fostered in her a profound respect and trust in the process of birth and deepened her passion for empowering families during a vulnerable and beautiful time in their lives.

After graduating from the midwifery program in 2007, Sarah moved to Denver, Colorado to continue pursuing her midwifery career.  Her invaluable experience of working alongside a passionate and dedicated home birth midwife instilled in her a love of helping women and families to experience the beauty of giving birth at home.

In the spring of 2013, Sarah moved to Seattle to continue her journey as a midwife at Pacific Natural Birth.  She is excited to continue finding ways to expand the knowledge and skill she offers to clients.

As of July 2017, Sarah is transitioning out of midwifery while providing administrative support at a local natural health clinic.
